Dark Sunrise
It was the dark
that held me.
Laying on the grass
collecting dew,
breathing steam.
The moon,
the stars,
black wrapped me up,
and held me.
Then,
there was you.
Then,
there was morning.
A sunrise,
red, orange, yellow.
So bright I shut my eyes,
you shielded yours.
The dark came again.
I felt something,
deep inside,
a tug,
a pang,
a hurt.
Fumbling,
crawling alone
into the dark again.
I can still see you.
There's no more sunrise.
