Sep 2014
You cut me open, like a blade to the wrist
You emptied me out,
Leaving behind only the dampness of sorrow and regret.
The blood drained and my body weakened
Each breathe becoming harder to inhale
Each mouthful harder to swallow
Each step as light as a ballerina’s
I was cautious, careful
not to fall back into the trap of your arms again
