Pandora’s Footsteps

by @jeremy-d-scholz

Walking the paths of childhood A pang of familiar affection A kinship to the child locked inside Bound by the light that steals all mystery The grandness of discovery, a child’s eye Every new idea seems an adventure to undertake Clouds that were dragons and mythical creatures Are now water vapor pulled along by jet streams Junk, mud, and holes in the ground Kingdoms and castles to a child’s mind For all the triumph knowledge holds A lingering hope for the return of mystery But, in Pandora’s footsteps There is no going back
