Photo's of an age gone by
Stances stiffly captured
Set within sepia dye
Imagination....enraptured!
Ne'er again to unfold
Conundrums; mysteries telling
Nought for the mirror to behold
Yet one hears the measures swelling!

Albeit the roving eye is jaded
Secrets remain concealed
Ancient memories faded
Resisting, they will not yield.
How can we pierce the aged veils
The evidence to detect?
Engorge ourselves in its entrails....
Its depths eventually deflect!

And so the surmised past unravels
Amidst anticipated surprise.
Fraught by centuries travels
The timepiece chimes.....dies!
We are but one step closer,
The buried truth, so long gone...
Greets the dawning with the crow, Sir
Glimpsing a recalcitrant aeon.
