I remember
I used to lay awake tracking the ebbs and flows of your heartbeat.
My ear resting into your steady chest. Convincing myself you were capable of loving me as I so loved you.
That your unsteady heart could beat for me.

Convincing myself you just needed time.
And then running before you had it.
For the ones who I never let love me back.
