Expectations
Thou beauty is evident
Intelligence divine
Heart is pure
Yet why so maligned?
His presence about you from your youth
His love encompassing
Yet you've denied
and abandoned
left wondering where is this divine.
Longing for His presence
searching in the ways of the world
yet He has given you Him through us
Why don't you see
or feel
or long for me as I do?
Alone in our togetherness
yet I can not turn away
your potential too great
my need for affirmation unrelenting
Is it you I seek
or am I the fool?
time will tell
a discerning heart will never fail
O Lord grant unto me
a destine heart
or the illusions due a belly full of wine
Longing for love,
hope in my path,
aware of my ills, yet ever inspired
Expectations are only for the fool who's never lived...
