Poems
Dec 2010
oblivion
the bomb siren
going off
makes my heart sink
and sends my mind into
panic
my eyes search for the nearest exit
my legs and arms scramble to the door
my ears are tortured by that wailing doom
the wind blows southward
I smell flowers on the breeze
skies are blue and cloudless
there in the distance I can see
I close my eyes then
waiting forβ¦
just waiting.
seconds, minutes, hours,
days were all the same
breathes of animals mixed
with the sighs of the trees
and the world was silent
and blind and feelingless
so long
so long it felt
my eyes and ears and
body shut down waiting
that when it didnβt come
I was not the same man
I had died and yet not died
I cannot pick my heart back up
my mind is always jumping at
the slightest surprises
this will not go on
I just can't
