I step out for a minute.
Out of my shoes,
my clothes,
my skin.
GO. GO.
Away. Anywhere.
Run as fast as you can, just not here.
But regretfully I turn back to see my shell standing alone,
in the midst of all my pain.
I can't leave her there.
Not there.
Not with them, in that place.
I tip-toe back hoping she hasn't noticed my absence.
In my soul I reassure her that I won't ever leave again.
She needs me, or I need her.
Either way, I can't leave...
