Every now and then,
she gives me a reminder,
a reminder of times,
a reminder...of when.
There she is, sitting on the swings,
she invites me over from my slumber,
from my sleep with the crawly things.
She says, "Push me higher! I can't do it alone."
So there she started our friendship,
and from that day it's only grown.
We go to the park every now and again,
we see the children playing,
and we're back to when:
In the middle of the day,
we met once more,
there has never been a better reason,
for me to run out the door.
There I waited,
and there she came back to me,
and there we talked for hours,
up upon the tree.
The tree we climbed is nothing more than a stump,
so I pretend I'm climbing like my days of youth,
only to find, the children bring back my grump.
So I sit back down,
as I pout in defiance,
as she saunters on over,
and reminds me of our alliance.
I was king of the hill,
she was queen of the land,
we ruled the playground together,
from the fields down to the box of sand.
Our loyal subjects,
no matter where we were,
if ever I had to choose a person to save,
it would always be her.
She's my reminder,
of who I am today,
She's the one who reminds me,
of the things I need to say.
I Love You, Dear
Every night before bed,
and every day before work,
because love is the biggest frontier,
so take that Captain Kirk!
Little reminders,
like the smell of Lilly in her hair,
or the way she laughs and plays,
with the children here and there.
She reminds me.
Reminds me indeed.
She reminds me to grow a garden,
I first need a seed.
