The ground rumbles like thunder,
as supersonic streamers
break the barrier.
The sound of small arms fire
buzzsaws,
heralding the beginning of hell
& somewhere in the rubble,
covered in thick dust
are the little ones.
with their eyes stretched
the size of saucers,
peeking out in wonder,
wondering when
the grown-ups
will.
