Jul 2014
It was dark when I left,
Slowly up the winding roads,
Rain slashing windows,
Anticipation, slowly, slowly,
On and on the rain went,
On and on the road went,
Nothing seemed to end,
Especially not the journey
Mindless chatter broke my bubble,
‘You excited?’ ‘Yeah, course I am.’
Barely registered.
My mind sparkled,
With the coming weeks.
Up and up we drove,
High into the mountains
Always, up and up and up,
My mood rose with the roads.
The sun finally arrived
Droplets of water twinkling
Like stars in the night
A dance between water and light.
The light behind the monstrous mountains
Took away my breath
I could have stayed
kept gazing at the beauty
On and on the car kept driving
Up and up higher and higher in to the light.
