Why’d ya open up two? she asked.
Two what?
Bottles of wine, she said.
I didn’t think you’d like what I was drinking.
Lifting my glass she said, It’s bitter.

After a while she asked
You want the rest of mine?
Then left her drink and opened a book
Watching TV
At the same time.

Before she went to bed she called
Are you just going to sit there getting drunk
And staring at that candle?

Later on that night
She woke up crying
And I had a dream about Christ
Nailed to a rocking chair grandfather’s clock.
