I want to go
where people are free
from the gravity of life's care,
the needless cares
that keep us feeling like we
weigh a ton.
To never feel
the pain of rejection.
To never feel
that I don't measure up.
To never feel
like I have to fake it to be myself.

I want to go
where people
don't have their ear glued to a cell phone,
their fingers feverishly texting,
where people pass one another
and know someone just passed them by,
knowing enough just to smile.
