You came along when I was drowning.
You pulled me out, reminded me to breathe.
You held my hand until the morning,
Until I’d calmed myself and suddenly felt free.
Your smile, it shone more brightly than the sun.
Your soul was made of constellations,
Guiding me to you.
You pulled me in, not knowing what you’d done.
I came to you, you were my shelter in the raging sea.
You pulled me to the sun, and told me “Breathe it in.”
I breathed fire, and flames danced across my skin.
You took my hand, you taught me fire doesn’t always hurt.
And I believed, and the world became a blur, leaving
Only you, and only me, and the two of us together.
You turned me into a flame, but then you took my breath away.
Now I can only burn when I’m with you.
