I try to forget you
I really do
But I see you
in the things around me

I see your green eyes
In the tops of trees
Along my window

I see your lips
In the petals of flowers
Down my sidewalk

I see your dark hair
In the sky at night
Swirling above me

I want to forget you
But I see you
Day and night

I will not forget you
Until the day
I can no longer leave the house
Until the day
I can no longer look out a window
Until the day
I am no longer

I will see you
Until the day
I am gone
Even then from my resting perch
I will see you
