The dancer’s dream
And the singer’s melody
Met in an instant
In a land of make believe.
They were the best of friends
In this world of nonexistence
And some day, they vowed,
They’d transition to reality
In this land of make believe.
But one night the dancer’s dream
Met the addict and his tree,
Ate the fruit of destruction,
And left the singer’s melody.
The melody broke its lyrics
And abandoned its harmony,
Killed the singer and traveled to
The addict’s tree.
What was once a dream
And a melody
Is now another fallen leaf
Made broken by
The addict’s tree.
