There was a girl
Who grew in the dappled light of her trees
They would wrap their roots about her ankles
And drop leaves to cover her sleeping frame
She would take the long way home from the bus stop and
slip between their trunks
then take a few steps back
before taking the daily leap of hope
over the creek
She was saturated with gold warmth
and was given a sea of green above
And her trees held her
As skin and roots
Became indecipherable
