The fires came and spread
they inhaled the land
and let out ash
that covered both land and sky.
The fires devoured plant and bough
once proudly reaching for sun and sky
but when the devastation died
the foliage now was blackened and dry.
This fire left nothing behind
left not even a babes young cry
it ate as fierce as a monsters
appetite,
the life that once was full of pride.
Shamed and shackled we looked on
unable to stop what nature spawned
until it all was quite
with only the crackling of the
dying fire.
