The shadows never left me I have forgotten what we looked like in the summer When we built tree houses out of crescent shaped mouths, And starlike eyes We built them with our hands We were still strangers then, you and I You and I, you and I I didn't know your story and you didn't know mine But we acted like old friends I have forgotten what we looked like in the summer I can't remember what I felt I want to know if my lips curled up, If my hands ached to hold yours, If my heart knew words other than your name This morning, I tried to remember We were still strangers then, you and I You and I, you and I, You and I never happened, I don't think we have met before Tell me, Do you know who I am? I have forgotten what I was called before you and I Before you and I We never happened You and I I have forgotten I'm trying to remember But I tried so hard to forget that I can't remember anymore
