The warmth of love is wondrous,
It can lift us up and carry us away,
Every year on February the 14th,
We dedicate love to a late winter's day.

To the romantic souls and cynics both,
I admit, we can't deny the power love holds,
Though it sometimes leads to marriage, other times to sin,
The heat of the moment melts through the mind's cold.

We are told from a young age to follow our hearts,
It's a wise premise, but our hearts are much too fragile,
One bitter ***** can riddle it broke,
Our minds are resistant and exponentially more agile.

As much as we try to live by logic,
The heart overpowers our mind,
After all, it pumps the blood needed to live,
And we can't leave those memories behind.
