Benefit of the Doubt

Mercy, humility, friendship, and good faith

Gullibility, insecurity, sadness, and heartbreak

Give the world an unmitigated chance

And be bitten by the snake

Or constricted by the snake

And choked until your eyes explode

And all of your bones break

I'd rather be a ravaged corpse

Than a survivor any day
