THE SOUND OF NIGHT

Resounding roar of the sea

Beating one to one

As if to defeat

The wail of the shore

Where the sea conceals the tides

And teach to remain dumb and still?

Cars, smashing the snow walls

Racing like galloping turtle-

A simile like this possible?

The tides’ roar, the sea hid

Ceaseless in the turtle’s belly.
