Resurrection

When you feel as if can no longer inhale

the weight of darkness pressing against your eyes

When you wander for hours

searching for horses without a compass

only to find yourself

lost once again within a silence so loud

that you place two fingers against the warm softness of your neck

surprised by the throbbing beat confirming your existence

You are alive,

so why do you hold onto this disappearing act?

You are alive

so make the decision to stay

even when you remember

and even when the ache steals your breath

Even when shame rips through your body

over and over again

It is not yours

Can you hear me?

It is not yours

Don't go

Reach inside the pain until you find her

Wrap your love around her tiny shoulders

embracing her brave heart

Tell her that she is safe now, and she needs to stay

because you need to stay

and live
