Your tidal wave of tears crashed gently onto your lap,
Your breaths hazy, face swollen, and hands shaking violently.
I observed you with extreme pain,
Yet helpless.
Forgive my careless mistake,
For I did not understand the situation,
Clearly and thoroughly.
Forgive my rude negligence,
When you blatantly screamed for my aid with your longing eyes.
I stood there watching,
Watching you.
Your every muffled sob into your creased shirt,
Every lousy movement,
Along with your messy lemon blonde hair.
How could I use deception against you,
And comfort you with hurtful lies,
When you were more vulnerable than ever?
How could I assure you without knowing how
To persuade myself?
