A villanelle - I try to take my mind off you

I try to take my mind off you As I slowly heal from this hidden scar Because I have caught a love flu. A fleeting summer fling comes true But who would have known it could go so far I try to take my mind off you. I didn’t sense any slight hint or clue Warning me to stay off the radar Because I have caught a love flu. The growing distance becomes cruel Tempting us to be love martyrs I try to take my mind off you. You said there is nothing we can do But to look back to this as a memoir All because I have caught a love flu. Thought I won’t be feeling so blue As I silently light on my last cigar I try to make my mind off you Because I have caught a love flu.
