A summer ago, in your arms, I lay my head on your chest; with my hands running over the roughness of your skin, feeling the perspiration of us.

We felt as if we understood life when we were laughing at death, feeling as if we were invincible because we did not have a care in the world of who-ever or whatever could bring us down. We were already living in a hell; a hell disguised underneath all the dreams and imaginations…but we were fooled by them.

You went away and took yourself with you. And I was left alone. Heart-broken. I understood why but I did not at the same time… I find every excuse for you, for me, and for us; why we could not be together.

But, we mocked death and the power of it. And, now we live in a deeper hell because of our foolishness. We feel the pains of death without the comfort of each other.

Death turned around and laughed at us. In the end, death will always win.
