Back
and Forth
Back
and Forth
eyes gaze around the park
Up
and Down
Up
and Down
children on swings
and the teeter totter
bark
laughs
softest chatter
young couples with their dogs
and old ones holding canes
wind rustles
through his paper
face glancing up again
he looks around
and considers
each
one
when lethargy takes the closest star
and he can no longer pretend
to read
the man walks towards his car
then hears sirens
as trucks pull out of the nearest
fire station
forcing his face to stay neutral
he wonders which home
his brother has chosen
Connect the words fire station, lethargy, and teeter-totter
