I was once a treasured place
I brought delight and glee
Lonely nights followed crowded days
Encircled in life, sheltered by tree

Caterpillars plucked from me
Were collected and called by name
I was your castle, your plane and ship
Imagination was to blame

My eyes did see less of you
Flickers of hope as you walked by
I began to rot and decay
slanting in sorrow, beginning to sigh

Weeds grow beneath in cobwebbed shadows
years elapsed before your view
dejected decay of a lost soul
once enriched, now askew

strangers see a place with simple sorrow
whispers of laughter hang in ghostly air
Only you see what was once here
leaves cover earth, trees stand bare

But I have seen my best days
I wish you all goodbye
For now I must let the wind
Nudge me down forever to lie
