I sought calm seas,
The seas I knew,
Where I was born,
Waters I understand.
I charted my course
And unfurled my sails
Just in time for the storm.
To spirit me away
Into the unknown

I though I was
Prepared, a good sailor
But when the skies
Turned dark and the
Waves grew tall,
I was not ready
For my mind to
Fall to pieces,
My spirit to collapse.

I gripped the wheel
Holding on tight
As lightning struck
The deck around me.
With one last wave
The height of the mast
I was tossed away,
Carried out to seas
Yet to be charted.

Floating, drowning
Churned around
By angry swells.
The water floods
My empty lungs
And feeling unexplored
Pains unexperienced
Filled my empty mind.
I shiver in the cold.
