Mama, Mama, please let your boy go.  You had him long enough, it's important to tell him so.
You need to release him, to give someone else a chance.  You have to let him move on, to allow his life to advance.
Mama, Mama, please let your boy go.  Hopefully, you trained him to be strong; this world can be cruel and cold.
He must be able to protect himself, from those who's mean and bold.
Mama, Mama, please let your boy go.  Notice, he's no longer a child.  Release him from you apron string, to go live a life worth while.
