The pain is overwhelming
As I slowly crawl over gravel
Collapsing at times
Knees bleeding skin ripped away

Unfamiliar territory
Yet the map shows I am to be here
I hide and duck away sweating
But knowing I have to stay

Panic
Desperately watching all angles
Paranoid of what lies ahead
Trying to stay focused in all the disarray

Silencing my breathing
Can't risk being heard
But my cries are loud and labored
I'm trapped with much to say

I'm afraid Yet I stand
Unaware of the threat
Knowing I would be shot down
But it has to be this way
Fear is the war inside...
My words are my heart which is keeping me alive
