mania
autumn and all the leaves fly
in the distance I hear a cry
don't know if it's her
don't know if it's you
placing it there
without me wanting to
winter and everyone's gone
but the whispers remain as one
can't silence them
can't leave them be
never alone
as you follow me
spring and the birds come back
they try to warn me of attack
looking for me
they want my head
ever since you told me
I can't go to bed
the lizards call me
the dogs don't whistle-blow
and no one comes near me
she's gone
and they know
the park is silent
as the moon ascends
can only hear you
whispering old amends
I open my eyes
no longer freezing
your secrets have filled me
they're beautiful, pleasing
they know I know,
you tell me as I sit
they want to take it
away from me
I run and I run
away from the people
"thieves, liars!" I cry
when I hear that whistle
feel the loud blow
the world spins and changes
who was she, already
what is I, this pathway
summer and all the kids play
it all begins to slowly fade
and I feel you
laughing
clawing
away
