I’m walking
The ground is muddy, my clothes are soggy. It’s raining.
But I can’t stop, I have to keep going.
The sky is gray, the ground is wet and the trees are bare except for one nest.
But I can’t stop, I have to keep going.
I look at my phone, it’s almost dead
But I can’t stop, I have to keep going.
I’m walking
And I hear a noise.
I turn and see a bird lying on the cold, wet ground just praying to die.
But I can’t stop, I have to keep going.
I hear another sound I turn and see a fox stalking the hurt bird.
But I can’t stop, I have to keep going.
The fox grows closer to the bird.
But I can’t stop, I have to keep going.
The bird squeaks.
I stop.
I turn around and walk back and pick up the bird.
I find its nest and place it there.
I continue walking.
I don’t know where I’m going.
But I can’t stop, I have to keep going.
