It is important to establish
early comfort, though pre-dawn
is the best time for experiments
on flowing swooping arm
gesticulations, on shades
of lips and knuckles scuffed
from carelessness and bicycles.

Where even did sleep
or when, those words
of inquiry are tight and
relaxed, small boxes
of language with nouns
punching holes for air
buried beneath verbs.

"It is OKAY to be who you are
when you are and where you
might go and how you might
get there. You can hold what
you will and teach what you
wish but you still are tethered
like the yellow rubber ball,
beat to death by adolescents."
