Dec 2013
Heavy sticky eyelids drooping,
mascara heavy lashes flicking out
in curls one by one, fighting sleep,
fought it last night until I could
take no more. Made it to
4am by white powder and woke
to a thin roll of red stringy Thai smoke
that stank up the house and helped
me forget for a little while.
What am I doing waiting for your call
so late because I need to be held
and can't sleep alone.
