One morning I woke
And you weren't there
The front door was locked
And the windows were shut
Astounded, I roamed into the kitchen
Into the bathroom
Into the closet...
Nothing
I walked outside
Your bicycle wasn't there
Where had you gone?
I drove around town
And then out of town
And then out of state...
Nothing
Went back home, in case
You had changed your mind...
You didn't
I grabbed my telescope
And searched the moon
And the stars...
Nothing
You were nowhere to be found
And I think
You wanted it that way...
