Burning Liar, You Never Was A Lover

by amanda-shelton

I faded into the forest, as you set fire to the trees. I ran but the smoke came faster choking me until I can't breathe. You laughed while I burned slowly, you never showed any concern. I was warned about your demons but I ignored all rumors to give you a chance to prove yourself. But it only took you a year to show your true colors. You were never the beautiful person, you never was my best friend and a shoulder to lean on. You brought me a broken heart a shadow that resides solely in the darkness. You, the deceiver, the sharp tool that came to carve me away, and devour everything I worked hard for. The scars you inflicted upon me remain raw and exposed, accompanied by a profound absence of genuine sorrow, with no remorse, no regrets you are a reminder of everything I never wanted. You tried to drown me in your failures only to discover that I have emerged stronger from the struggles I have previously endured. You can't break something that's already broken and struggling to survive. I am a riser, a fighter, a sunset gracing the horizon, destined to shine more radiantly with each strike you deliver; the only remnants of your efforts are mere sparks illuminating the darkness, revealing your true nature. ©️ 2026 By Amanda Shelton
