In Memory of a Forgotten Poet

Two horses,

each running in a different direction,

tear a body in half, a soul in half.

Respect human life.

It is not food for crows.

It is a heart that loved,

believed in poems,

yet accepted a certain loss

for the sake of peace, not hatred.

Do not honor those

who took dignity from others.

You were given the fruit

so you would know what evil is,

but trying to tame it,

you fought your own wars.

Do not reward pride.

Do you know

how much light and energy

life needs

to grow under a woman's heart?

Do not excuse indifference.

Do not look for reasons

to tear at another person's clothes.

There is enough room for everyone.

Learn humility.

Disease and disaster

will teach you fear.

Do not raise your hand

even in your thoughts,

against a life you do not understand.

Love.

Protect the human within the human.
