What Were We?

I don't know what we were.

Friends?

Lovers?

Soulmates?

Twin flames?

But I do know one thing.

I don't want to know what we were.

All I know is who we were in the moment.

From the moment we talked.

To the moment we hung out.

We weren't friends.

We weren't lovers.

We weren't soulmates.

We weren't even twin flames.

We were just people with a connection.

A connection that we never understood.

That is what we were.

A distant memory of who we were in the past.

Just another lesson meant to be learned.

Another person in my life that was never meant to stay.

And another reminder of what I must let go.

Just for me to remain who I am inside.
