Taxidermy

I'm just an ear In a jar A fossil really Set aside on a self Just for you But also everyone else I'm on display In a gilded cage We call shared history And when I'm dropped I'm picked back up No mind to the fresh dents and scratches Up I go To my pedestal Until another tremor shakes me loose I exist here Just for you The others think so too I am a personal Communal Garbage pit I'm just an ear Never a mouth
