Tyd Kapsule (Time Capsule)

by SeanAchilleos

Geskryf deur: Sean Achilleos 'Tyd kapsule' (Time capsule) was written about the late 70s early 80s era in South Africa. It was a very simplistic era, and herein the poem or writing captures the "simple life" of that time. It deals with a lady (Rika) who works as a saleslady at a local furnisher store. It was completely legal to smoke cigarettes at your work desk (she lights up a Chesterfield). She decides to take a walk across the road to buy a new LP (record) for her husband (Tokkie). He later fetches her from work and borrows money from his wife in order to buy a bottle of brandy. They discuss the evenings' events and decide to have a "braai" (South African term for barbecue).
