If Hate is Just a Mask.

If hate is just a mask

Why would anyone wear it?

What if hate is just a mask

For the tears

We hide beneath the silence,

Until they harden

Into something colder.

What if hate is just a mask

For when we’re deprived

Of what defines us,

Leaving empty hands

Grasping for life.

What if hate is just a mask.

Because we need a reason to live

When life shows

Its evil nature.

What if hate is just a mask

For when life asks questions

We can not answer,

And anger

Feels easier

Then standing alone in the dark.

What if hate is just a mask

For when we feel like less

Than those around us,

Watching others rise

While we sink in silence.

What if hate is just a mask

For when our reality

Drops below our morals.

If hate is just a mask

What hides

on the other side?
