Death is not beautiful
And neither am I.
Death doesn't come at the perfect moment,
It doesn't wait for you to say your last,
It has no time to sit still waiting.
Your family won't see it coming
Even when they see it coming.
You can read all about it
Write all about it,
Romance with the notion dancing through your head.
But when it comes, you will know too,
Death is not beautiful.
That doesn't mean nothing before matters.
Everything from feeling the warmth of a summer day,
The chill of a stormy night,
The people you share all of those highs and lows,
All the experience and love you put into all you are,
Those things carry on.
You are a legend, a story of wisdom and kindness
If that is what you choose to be.
Me? I am not beautiful.
Death has demented my mind,
My thinking runs deep in its muck.
If I were Icarus and death were the sun,
My wings would be scorched so many times over,
I no longer would have nerves to feel pain.
But I will show you all the beauty,
I will dance and sing until I can no longer,
Because I know life is beautiful
I will never trade it away.
