Safety/Nightmare

Safety / Nightmare

i am your safety

and your nightmare.

i turned your light on,

then pushed you

deeper into darkness

i don’t have the key—

i only know

your darkest corners

you run——

i run faster…

you throw breadcrumbs.

i eat them.

moments of vulnerability

mistaken for love….

it was never——

only hunger….

my legs are tired…

i stop

my gift,

my light—

only ever mine.
