Burn after reading

by emmackenzie

They keep saying “burn the books, but please keep the guns.” Getting surprised second looks from absolutely no one. Ignoring the diamond and the pearl. while we keep destroying our world, lift up the best crook who runs burn the books but keep the guns. Every church is keeping scripture of how we’re sinnin’ but the congress library is blocking out each second opinion. Earth will still turn and twirl while we keep destroying our world, till it’s shook and it’s undone burn the books but keep the guns. The kids aren’t outside playing, so why would they be reading? They don’t notice the sudden lack of the bees they’re too busy zoned out with their TV. No dog ears or pages curled while we keep destroying our world, we’ll let ourselves cook from the sun burn the books but keep the guns. They’ve kept all the scrolls and old texts in a museum, now they’re rushing to burn and bury them in a mausoleum. Ignoring the diamond and the pearl. while we keep destroying our world, lift up the best crook who runs burn the books but keep the guns. Like paint we watched the blood swirled while we kept destroying our world, the amount it took to be done but burn the books and keep the guns.
