Disappearing

One day

all that will be left of me

will be in a file

in a cabinet

in some dusty depository,

a footnote

in some

curious history

or perhaps

a smile

in someone's memory.

But today

I'm shading my eyes from the sun

and

figuring out

what went wrong.
