Addiction and Sobriety (A Backwards Poem)

Say yes

I'd never

Look forward to the future

Accepting fate's hand

Embrace misery

I never remember to

Count my blessings

Carry a constant weight around my neck

Wondering what it would be like to

Go back in time

I don't want to

Always

Be tempted

I forgot how to

Smile

Each day

Within myself

Demons

Wrestle

I no longer

Feel happy

Wake up

Choose darkness over light

No one told me

A warning

Addiction is Hell

I believe it

Friends say there's a better way

I refuse the offer

Dance with me

The devil whispers

Try this poison

I know I won't

Just say no

(Now read from bottom to top)
