Called

The name was called

before it was ready.

A door opens—

holds.

White light

spills across the floor.

A file rests

on a lap.

The name

again.

A glance up.

Then away.

No one moves.

The door begins

to close.

No one enters.

It seals.

It is not called again.

Another

replaces it.
