Flowers in her hair

by aditya-roy

Today, trees sleep upon a restless noon The fiery breeze wafts its tender fingers through the leaves Lingering just a little on the sweet tendrils of creepers That clamber on their backs like angels do If the branches bend, the whole thing doesn't break When the air flows through the flowers, she holds them gentler I'm reminded that the sweet scent Of her freshly washed hair is sweeter than rain And when the rain falls The tree with flowers in her hair Will wake up to the nectarine-like moon It'll ruffle its drenched leaves once again, that is its strength Sitting still upon the tender twigs that hold the leaves Are tired birds that have searched for a home The angels call to her So, she lets go of the flowers wearily If the branch breaks, you'll stand, I promise this And know your sweetness is a rare quality For many have let their beauty wither and die Yet, you've held tight to those flowers in your hair Tonight, when you wake up to the luminscence And birds remind us of the innocence That was once long lost due to being unloved You'll no longer have to protect yourself
