All I Have to Lose

by @icouldimagine

I think we've grown numb to words like, "Dead", "Killed", or "murdered". I think we make excuses for words like, "Raped" and "tortured". I think we've grown accustomed to Forced separation, and blatant theft - All have become numbers, There are no humans left! Rendered as mere spectators, We are looking for the next atrocity; "Being paralysed is safer for my family." Despair is the purchase we pay for in blood-money, "That's why I go to work." "Settle into your routines, pretend you didn't look." "Be polite when demanding for dignified life, "Only march if that is understood." And in every second spent between Decision and action, Hundreds are obliterated! It is as if time doesn't operate the same, And these horrors are tolerated! Anyone who screamed "ENOUGH!" Risks death and imprisonment In exchange for certainty in victory, And God's favour. All glamour over this life has disappeared. There is no pleasure in idle talk, No pleasure in selfish pursuits. Losing my dignity and humanity Has become a far greater threat Than anything else I have left to lose.
